Prologue - Chapter 3

· The Prologue begins on December 7, 1994 when the narrator begins the novel by saying that an expensive French yacht was accidentally dropped by a crane operator; it is noted that this is the same date at the attack on Pearl Harbor.

· Two police officers photographed the wreckage, with one saying that this time the Japanese could not be blamed, as they were too busy keeping an eye on their America’s Cup competition, particularly the New Zealanders.

· The police officers, two members of the San Diego Police Department Harbor Unit, hurried to have the photographs printed, as they wanted to get away from the angry Frenchmen, and fast.

· The police officer’s photo was seen around the world where regattas are important.
