Objective
The purpose of the Ethics Committee is to make decisions regarding the withdrawal of life support in specific cases. The objective of this lesson is to explore what the Ethics Committee is and some elements on consideration in their decisions.
Lesson
1) In-class writing assignment: In one to two paragraphs, have students answer the following questions: What is the purpose of the Ethics Committee? What decisions do they have to make?
2) In-class group work: Divide students into groups of three or four, and have them discuss the following questions: According to the Ethics Committee's guidelines, when is it appropriate to withdraw life support from a patient? Why?
