All Aboard!
Have students come up with a name for the Exodus. Remind them of the purpose of the ship. For an alternative, assign the ship a different duty. For example, decide that the ship is to be used to carry students away from their classroom. What name could then be assigned to the ship?
Compare Karen's Life
Have students write an essay to compare the life Karen lived to that of her brother, Hans.
How Much Room is Necessary?
Consider the amount of room left on the Exodus for the children. Using cardboard, make a "berth" for students in the same dimensions described. Discuss ways children might have passed the time during the voyage. Have students compare this to the voyages make by Africans taken prisoner as slaves. What's the difference between the two voyages?
