History Report

Have students create a historical oral report about Haiti. Have them research the current economy, government, quality of life, customs and culture. Have students create a tri-fold board and present to the class.

Historical Connections

In Section 2, Nadia's mother talks about the ending of the dictatorship in Haiti. She explains that this moment in history changed many people's lives, including hers and Nadia's. Think about important historical events that have taken place in your lifetime. Write a first-person retelling of this event in such a way that a reader would recognize the severity of the situation and feel as if they were experiencing it first hand.
