Objective
The objective of this lesson is to discuss Selin's interest in Kierkegaard's book, Either/Or, and what is communicated about her interest in an aesthetic life. Kierkegaard's book is divided into two sections. One section discusses the aesthetic life and the other discusses the ethical life. Selin finds herself drawn to the idea of an aesthetic life.

Class Discussion: When did Selin first hear the phrase "aesthetic life" (15)? What was the class reading? How did Selin find the idea of an aesthetic life to be compelling? Why does she find the aesthetic life more compelling than the ethical life where one is expected to work and have kids?
