Inventor Day

In the spirit of Madame Esme, bring several everyday inventions to class and ask students to research the inventions and deliver reports on them.

Trouble Basket

In the spirit of the "Trouble Basket," make an "Activity Basket," and ask students to submit their own fun activities. Choose one or more of the submitted activities for the class to do.

Marshmallow Castle

Have the class make their own historically-accurate castle from marshmallows.

Journal

Have students keep a daily journal like Codell. Have them write down what happened during the day, how they felt, etc. Ask them if you can share certain entries with the class.

Fairy Tale Festival

Have the students create their own proposal for a Fairy Tale Festival, and then stage some or all of the ideas in class.

Storytelling

Like Codell did with her children, assign age-appropriate books to students, and have them memorize...
