Character Pictures

Have everyone bring in pictures cut from magazines that illustrate their idea of what Kivrin, Rosemund, Agnes, Elwys, Gawyn, Fr. Roche, Dunworthy, Mary Ahrens, Badri and Colin look like. Have the class vote on the pictures and make a poster with the five winning pictures.

Screenplay

Write a screen play of the scene when Kivrin is nursing Fr. Roche. Have students act it out.

What if?

Writers often ask themselves "What if?" when looking for plot twists and story development. Possible places to twist the plot: Kivrin is dropped in a different century. Mary Ahrens lives and she and Dunworthy become romantically involved. Fr. Roche survives the plague and sees Kivrin "transcend" back to heaven. Rosemund lives and Kivrin decides to bring her back to her time.
