Grief is a powerful emotion, so is anger. The experience of these intense emotions set the stage for how the characters in the book act and react towards other characters. The objective of this lesson is to see how these intense emotions affect decision making skills.

Lesson

1) In a group discussion, discuss how grief and anger play a role in decision making. Yuri and Lara experience extreme emotions in the beginning of the book that affect their attitudes and actions throughout the rest of the story. How does the accidental death of a loved one affect the decisions a person makes? How would these decisions change when the death or loss in intentional, such as in a murder?
