Objective

Chapter 1, Hear You Loud and Clear: This lesson focuses on what Strangeways is doing, and how it led to his death. These are important concepts so that one can understand why Bond was sent to Jamaica to investigate the disappearance of Strangeways.

Lesson

1. Divide the class into small groups. Have each small group make a timeline of events that led to Strangeways' death. Share these timelines with the class.

2. With the class still in small groups, have them make a list of all the clues that lead the reader to believe that Strangeways' death is linked to his case. Then, have each small group classify each clue depending on if the reader knows the clue, or if the other characters in the story will know the clue. Share the results of this exercise with the class.
