Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze Highsmith's establishment of the dynamics and feelings that dominate Vic and Melinda Van Allen's unorthodox marriage in Part I. As Part I draws to a close, though, the reader realizes that Vic is actually much more upset by Melinda's actions than he lets on to others, including to Melinda and his closest friends.
