How has the detective/Mystery genre built upon early novels of that genre? Give some examples of parallels between modern detective/mystery and early detective/mystery. What are some of the differences? How does this novel, differ from other detective/mystery novels?

2. Class discussion: Have the students identify why this book is detective and mystery and provide another example of a novel which would fall into this genre as well as examples of novels which will not fall into this category...
