Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the author(s)' background and personal interest in the subject matter reflected in the novel. Steven Levenson is an American playwright who wrote the Broadway musical, Dear Evan Hansen. Levenson's stories are often abundant with themes that pertain to family and family dynamics. Val Emmich is an American writer, musician, and actor. Emmich adapted Dear Evan Hansen into a young adult novel following its Broadway success.
