• “Dear Evan Hansen”: that is how all of the narrator’s letters begin.
• Evan is actually the narrator’s middle name; his mother had wanted him to be Evan but his dad had wanted him to be Mark, which is his first name.
• Though Evan’s father won the battle, everyone in his life calls him Evan.
• Evan does not like his initials: M.E.H.
• To Evan, “Meh is pure indifference...doesn’t matter...no one cares” (6).
• Evan would rather think of himself as “Eh,” for Evan Hansen, which is “more like seeking approval, waiting for confirmation” (6).
• Evan’s mother says that he is a true Pisces.
