• This book is written from the first person point of view and it alternates between the past and present tenses. Although there are co-authors listed, the book is entirely written from Michael Osterholm's point of view.
• In the Preface to the 2020 Edition, Osterholm addresses the global Covid-19 pandemic. Osterholm argues that although Covid-19 has been serious and devastating around the world, there is likely an even worse pandemic in the pipeline.
