Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze the symbolism of Alexandra's ongoing quest for a raise at her job for the technology publication. Alexandra has worked for the company for several years, and she knows that she is one of the lower-paid people in her position. As Part I continues, Alexandra begins to wonder if part of the reason she is paid so poorly is because she is a woman and she is Asian. Her suspicions deepen after a managing editor uses the n-word in a large editorial meeting.
