Lesson
Possible Activities:
• Have the students use a cause-and-effect graphic organizer to explain behaviors of characters (i.e. Douglas jubilant, Father loving nature, Tom looking for a fight with his brother, etc...) within the story.
• Provide the students with a partially completed graphic organizer, with some causes and some effects and have the students work in cooperative groups to complete the chart.
• Have the students write paragraphs describing how events in their own lives have led to specific effects. Share these situations with the class.
Homework:
Provide the students with a T-chart. Have them list at least five cause/effect situations which occur to them throughout one 24-hour period of time.
Challenge:
Provide the students with a list of causes or effects on a T-chart from various books read throughout the school year...
