Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze the effects of past abuse and trauma on John's and Sasha's relationship in the story What Can You Do With a General. The narrator of the story reveals that John has struggled with his extremely volatile temper in the past to the point that his wife has left the family for short periods and his three grown children all seem either detached from or wary of him. John's relationship with Sasha is the most strained, and when he raises his voice to her, even as an adult, he can see she is fearful of him.
