Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Zauner's feelings about H Mart in Part I. Zauner's mother died several years before she wrote this memoir, and when Zauner goes to an H Mart, a chain supermarket in different parts of America that specializes in Korean foods and spices, she finds herself missing her mother and remembering her mother with intense emotions.

Class Discussion: What is "H Mart?" Why is H Mart so significant to Zauner? Why does H Mart seem to bring up so many memories for Zauner? What does it mean to Zauner to observe families, friends and couples in H Mart when she visits the store alone, after her mother has died?
