Southern Food
Students will find examples of the food and drink mentioned in the text and bring these into class to have a Southern Food Day, supplemented by their own research into Southern foods, and any creations they choose to make at home.
Chick Fest
Students will participate in a contest in which they attempt to impersonate Chick, exaggerating her qualities in order to expose the author's message through them. Students might dress up, put on skits, or hold an "interview" for classmates.
Lennys, Megs, and Babes.
Divide the class into three groups: Lennys, Megs, and Babes. In their groups, students will develop a full description and "profile" of their character, providing a drawing or image of some kind as well, and finally, listing any current personalities who might fall into these groups. Groups will present their characters to the class.
