Journalist
Students should imagine that they are journalists living at the time of the 1960s and 1970s and write about what is happening during this time, such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. assassination, the Vietnam War, and school segregation. Students should share their articles with the class.
Obituary
Students should write an obituary for one of the people mentioned in Common Ground and summarize his or her life experiences, family information, and other pertinent information described in the book.
