Nature Activity

Have the students spend a short time outside to get inspired. Have them pick one element in nature that they would like to write about, and then have them write either a poem or a short piece of fiction or creative nonfiction about this element in nature.

Image Activity

Have the students look through the collection and find a poem with a striking image. Then have them draw that image, explaining how and why they got that image from the poem.

You Be the Teacher

Let the students choose one poem from the collection and then have them be the teacher. Have them gather ideas about the poem, then have them stand up in front of the class and present the poem, prompting a class discussion led by the student.
