Objective

Objective: The first chapter of the novel introduces the characters by having them attack a defenseless schoolteacher, rob a store, and mercilessly beat the store's owners. By all accounts, the main characters of the novel are criminals.

1) 1 - Class Discussion: What causes crime? How can it be prevented? What would be the best way to deal with hooligans like Alex and his gang? What is the role of drugs in the characters' actions? What does Alex and his gang deserve for their behavior?

2 - Hot-seat interviews: Divide the class into even groups of 2 or 4. Have half of each group play the role of members of Alex's gang, and the other half play the role of police interrogators. Both sides interview each other about their motives and motivations.
