To "interview" a book is to look with care at the cover, advertising "blurbs" which are intended to make browsers want to read the book, and the front matter. Today's objective is to make predictions about this story by interviewing the book.
Lesson
1. Individual reading: Read the cover blurbs. What do you expect the book will be like, based on what the reviewers say about it? What do words like "unique", "staggering", and "stunning" tell you about the book? Who wrote the quotations? What kind of reader do you think the publishers are hoping to reach?
2.Partner work: Discuss the cover art for this book. Many items are included in the art. Which are most prominent? Which did you not notice at first? What do you expect this story to be like?
3. Class discussion: Gather facts about the book from the front matter: When...
