Objective
The objective of this lesson is to examine how Mickey is injured by an iguana, and what the author reveals about importing exotic animals. Mickey is standing with a cup of hot cocoa underneath a coconut pond in his backyard. A lizard killed by a freeze falls on his head and gives him a concussion. Pet dealers in Miami have been importing the baby specimens from the tropics. Once the creatures get big and become a problem, their owners set them loose. That has resulted in south Florida being overrun with hordes of wild iguanas.
