"Here Comes Charlie" - "The First Two Finders"

• A brief character list prior to Chapter 1 lists and describes the five children at the center of the novel: Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, and Charlie Bucket, a boy described as "our hero" (xi).
• Chapter 1, "Here Comes Charlie," begins on page 1.
• Next to an illustration of two elderly people, the novel’s first sentence is presented, saying, “These two very old people are the father and mother of Mr. Bucket” (1).
• The names of Mr. Bucket's parents are Joe and Josephine.
• A different elderly couple is depicted in the second illustration on the first page and the narrator states that Mrs. Bucket’s parents are named George and Georgina.
