1. How would you describe the narrative style in Chapter 1? Why does the author employ this narrative perspective here?

This chapter, along with later chapters in the novel, is related from a second-person point of view. The narrator says, "There are two things you know. One: You were there. Two: You couldn't have been there." This sets up the story from Caden's perspective, but allows the reader to put himself in the protagonist's shoes, as though the reader is experiencing the action for himself.

2. How is the narrative in Chapter 2 related? From what perspective is the majority of the story told? Why?

Chapter 2 and the subsequent chapters, with a few exceptions, are related from Caden's first-person perspective. He relates the events in the present tense, describing his thoughts and feelings about these events as they take place. This gives the reader insight into Caden's direct point of view and mindset as he unravels into mental illness.
