"Catch a Fire: The Life of Bob Marley" was written by Timothy White. White was an American rock music journalist who also wrote several biographies about famous rock stars, such as the Beach Boys, James Taylor and Bob Marley. In the early 1980s, he was the editor of Rolling Stone magazine. This lesson will focus on Timothy White and his biography.
Lesson
1) In Class Reading: Hand out copies of a short biography on Timothy White. Have the class read the biography and take notes in preparation to discuss it. Focus your attention on his career as a journalist and biographer.
2) In Class Writing Assignment: Write 1 to 2 paragraphs about Timothy White and his accomplishments, based on what you have learned about him from the biography. How did his experience with rock journalism affect the biographies that he wrote?
