Lesson
1) Class Discussion: James writes several ghost stories in this book. What is a ghost story? Why are ghost stories enjoyable? Why do different cultures have similar tales?
2) Group Research Project: Research, via the internet or at the library, the history of ghost stories. Information should include the definition, do they still exist, how accurate the tales are, who is a prominent horror/ ghost story writer today etc. Ask the students to present their findings to the class.
3) Individual Creative Writing: Write briefly on why you believe people enjoy ghost stories and why they surface in all cultures.
4) Homework: Read "Canon Alberic's Scrapbook."
