The Road

Both Hằng and LeeRoy spend a lot of time traveling via this, where Hằng is traveling to see her brother and LeeRoy is trying to find adventure as a cowboy. Hằng drives by bus initially and then they both drive in LeeRoy’s car.

Vietnam

This is where Hằng and Linh are born and where their family lives. When the war starts and when Linh is taken to America, the family makes plans to escape the country.

The Boat

Hằng and her mother escape Vietnam on this vessel, disguised as monks. This vessel is crowded and many people get sick and suffer.

The Island

After the boat is attacked, Hằng ends up washed ashore here, where the inhabitants help her and the other refugees. This location becomes the site of a brutal attack by pirates.
