Lesson 1 (from Chapters 1-12)
Objective
Students will be introduced to the idea of setting. They will learn to identify the setting and explain its importance. Butterfly Yellow takes place in two basic settings: Việt Nam and West Texas. The two places are very different, with their own cultures, languages, struggles, food, and climate. The objective of this lesson is to help students understand what role setting has in the shape of a novel.
