Objective

Objective: The artist's life and its drama seem to be the backdrop for the story of Burn This. There are many common themes and images which seem to present themselves when artists and dancers are involved in literature. Today's objective is to discuss how artists and dancers are viewed in the world.

1. Have each student make a list of the first ten things which come to mind when they think of being an artist or a dancer.

2. In smaller groups, have students discuss whether they think they would like the life of a dancer. Why or why not?

3. As a class, have the students discuss the life of an artist. How is the life of a creative person often portrayed? Is it an easy life? A difficult life? Why is the life of an artist different from the life of other people?
