Lesson

1. For class discussion: Ask students what they know about the series from previous books. Ask students if the author has done a sufficient job of introducing the characters or if the author has assumed the reader already knows the identities of the characters and the details of the overall situation.

2. For class work: Have students list questions they have about the characters after the first chapter. Keep the questions for reference later in the book.

3. For homework: Have students compare the opening of this book to the opening of any other book in a series.

4. For class debate: Ask students if they enjoy series books and why.
