Lesson 1 (from Act 1)

Objective

Dodge is described as a drunken, argumentative man who stays on the sofa all the time with his blanket he uses like a security blanket. There is an inner child in everyone wanting to be cuddled and taken care of. The objective of this lesson is to analyze the inner child in adults.

Lesson

1) For class discussion: Speculate several scenarios which might have resulted to Dodge's present-day situation. What made him argumentative? Why did he want to drink all the time?

2) For class discussion: Discuss the possible fears Dodge had. Why does he need a blanket to cover himself with all the time?

3) For homework: Write an essay on your security blanket. What makes you want to use it, and what do you feel when you use it? Compare with other members of the class and identify the similarities between your fellow class mates.
