Mexican Pot-luck

Give students the opportunity to research the foods discussed in the novel and recreate a Mexican-American dish to bring to the class. Students may coordinate their efforts to develop a “Mexican Pot-luck” where each student brings a dish to sample.

News Article

Ask students to look in their local newspaper for an article that involves some aspect of the novel and bring it to class. They will present it in front of the class and explain why it relates to the novel.
