• Rosa sends a note to her mother letting her know that her father has not yet been arrested.
• Before his death, Lionel Burger had many cookouts of which many people attended including Conrad who later becomes Rosa's boyfriend.
• Conrad would also attend Lionel's trial while he was home after traveling to many different far off places.
• At his trial, Lionel speaks for almost two hours about the injustice of apartheid that he is fighting against as a white doctor. The black people in attendance chant for him.
• Lionel is found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment...
