• Anders gets “stuck” in an "endless" line behind two women engaged in a "loud and stupid" (1) conversation.
• Anders is a literary critic by trade and his reviews are said to be conducted with "elegant savagery" (2).
• The line in which Anders waits is so long that it is "doubled around the rope" (2) that defines the queuing area.
• As Anders and the women in front of him watch, one of the tellers puts a "Position Closed" (2) sign at her window before walking to the back of the bank.
• The bank teller then leans against the desk of another bank employee who is shuffling...
