• In the Preface, Susannah Cahalan shared a description of waking up in the hospital and not knowing where she was.
• She noticed a hospital bracelet on her wrist that said “FLIGHT RISK” (xiv).
• In Chapter 1, Susannah woke to find two bites on her arm that she assumed were from bedbugs.
• She had an exterminator check her apartment.
• When he told her there were no bedbugs, she still thought the apartment was infested and requested that the apartment be sprayed anyway.
• Susannah worked at The Post, where she had started as an intern at age 17 seven years ago.
• Susannah asked her co-worker and friend Angela if she knew anything about bedbugs.
