This memoir is composed of eighteen short stories from Trevor Noah's life in South Africa. Each chapter centers around a different aspect of his life and is preceded by a short passage providing context or commentary.
• Before the table of contents there is a passage describing the Immorality Act of 1927, which outlawed intercourse between South Africans of European and African descent.
