Four Faces
Ask students to draw simple caricature faces (or stick figures if students prefer) of Kay, Pete, Sparacino, and Mark James during a particularly challenging time in the story for each of them. Students should label the character and event about which they are drawing. Post and compare results.
In a Manner of Speaking
Form groups of five. Ask each group to find an example from the book of Pete's manner of speech. Suggested events included his visit to Valhalla or any of his discussions with Kay about the investigation or evidence. How does or would Kay speak quite differently about the same situation, and why?
