Chapter 1

THE MURDERS - In this chapter, the reader sees the aftereffects of two grisly murders. It becomes clear that the clues of the murders will be given to the reader, and they will be encouraged to play detective alongside Christy and Joe. The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the clues presented in the first chapter, and to discuss the mystery that evolves from the clues of the first few murders.

1.) As a class, create a list of details that were given about Ruth's murder. What details stand out as important to you as you progress through the mystery? Why?
