• As a child, Ramun was threatened with stories about the Manta Diablo when he misbehaved.

• The Devil Ray has seven amber crescent-shaped eyes and seven rows of huge, sharp teeth, according to Ramun's mother.
• Before Ramun's grandfather's death, he was the most educated man in the village and recited long poems.

• His description of the Manta Diablo is closer to the truth as Ramun now knows it, but it is still not perfect.

• Father Linares was the first to see the Manta Diablo and banished it to the sea.

• When El Diablo roamed the earth it ruined crops and had claws and a forked tongue...
