Ancient/Modern Armenia Map

Using a large map of the world, outline the areas representing the historical homeland of the Armenian people. Then, using a different color marker, outline the current state of Armenia to see how much the traditional homeland has shrunk.

Genocide Map

Using a large map of the world, map the route Armenians were forced to take on the death march to the Syrian desert. Highlight the physical features that they marched through (i.e., arid areas, desolate areas, etc.). In addition, highlight the circuitous route that Balakian's family members took to eventually reach the United States.

Political Systems

Research the different political systems under which Armenians have lived, including the various invasions, the Ottoman Empire, Soviet control, and the current democratic national system. Compare and contrast the ways Armenians lived under the different systems and how they were treated.
