Short Story

Research life in England during the time period in which "Between the Acts" is set. Compose a short story that is set during that time.

Alternate Ending/Epilogue

Have students rewrite the end of the novel so that it concludes differently, or, write an epilogue which further explains what happens to the characters after the end of the novel.

Costume Design

In the pageant which takes place in "Between the Acts", many characters take to the stage. A few examples of characters from the pageant are Queen Elizabeth, a personification of England, a personification of Reason, the village idiot and demons. Design a costume which could be worn on stage by any of these characters, or others which appeared in the pageant.

Performance

Choose an interesting section from the novel and perform it as a dramatic scene or comedic skit.
