Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Kazu's character and her role at the cafe in Part I. Kazu, the waitress in the cafe Funiculi Funicula, is calm, cool, and sometimes detached. Kazu knows more than almost anyone else at the cafe about the process of time-traveling there. When Fumiko becomes emotionally distraught and caught up in her own dreams of time traveling, Kazu helps walk her through the process methodically.

Class Discussion: Who is Kazu? What is Kazu's connection to Nagare and to the cafe? How does Kawaguchi describe Kazu's personality? What is Kazu's connection to the time traveling ceremony? How does Kazu treat people - like Fumiko - who want to time travel?
