Luke found A LOT of dollar words. How many can you find? Go through the alphabet and make a list to bring into the class -- remember, no rude words!

Estimate the Grass in a Park

Using the method discussed in the book, cut a hole in a piece of cardboard and go to a park nearby. Count the blades of grass in one of the squares, and use this to estimate the whole park! Bring the number into the class to compare with your classmates.

Holiday Celebration

For their Christmas celebration, Mr. Terupt has the class divide into groups and research different holidays to make a booth. Choose one of the holidays from the novel (Kwanza, Christmas, Ramadan, Hanukkah) or choose one of your own to research and make a booth that would make Mr. Terupt's classroom proud!
