• Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup is a nonfiction book by Wall Street Journal investigative reporter John Carreyrou. This book follows the story of the medical-tech startup Theranos and its founder, Elizabeth Holmes, and the company’s fraudulent and unethical actions leading to its downfall.
• In opening, the Author’s Note establishes that the book is based on hundreds of interviews with over 150 people, 60 of which were former Theranos employees, as well as direct quotes from depositions, emails, and other documents.
• The Prologue introduces Henry Mosley, who was the chief financial officer of the startup Theranos in November of 2006.
