Objective
The objective of this lesson is to discuss Avril Donnelly and the relationship between her and Quinn. Avril Donnelly is Quinn's mother. She is domineering and likes to tell Quinn what to do.

Class Discussion: How does Quinn describe her mother? What type of person does she portray her mother to be? How has Avril married for money and status? How do the gifts Avril gives her daughters reflect on who she is and what is important to her? How does Quinn get along with her mother? How do they treat one another? What do their weekly lunches reveal about their relationship? What type of relationship do Quinn and her mother have?
Activity: Divide the students into small groups. Have each group discuss mother-daughter relationships. Use research if needed. Why are mother-daughter relationships complicated? What are some challenges in mother-daughter relationships? How might mother-daughter relationships...
