1. What is the story Nicole Chung says she was told about her adoption?

Nicole says that she was always told that her parents had just come from Korea, they had her prematurely, and could not afford the medical bills. She says that she was always told that they “wouldn't be able to give you the life you deserved” and that they gave her away so that someone else could take better care of her (3).

2. How does Nicole say her parents viewed the adoption and the fact that she was Korean?

Nicole says that her parents saw her as a gift from God (they had recently discovered religion) and a number of things had to fall into place in order for them to adopt her, after years of failing to carry a pregnancy to term. They did not care about Nicole being Korean, and claimed that they loved her no matter what color she was.
