Map It Out

Pinpoint all of the locations of the prisons and places people lived on a map, such as Edgefield County, Augusta, Milwaukee, Harlem and other areas. Students should find them on the map and mark their locations then create a final map as a class.

Poem

In the form of a student's choice, write a poem based on the book. Students can write from the perspective of a person from the book or as a reader looking back on the events during the life of one of the Bosket family members. Students should share their poem aloud with the class.
