Objective
This objective is to allow the students to better understand the geographic, societal, cultural, veterinary medical, and historical settings for this book.
Lesson
1. Divide the students into 4 groups.
2. Have each group research one of the following topics:
a. What was the geography of the communities where the events of this book take place?
b. What was the prevailing culture or cultures of the communities where the events of this book take place?
c. What are the important societal and historical issues being addressed by these communities when the events of this book take place?
d. What was the level of veterinary knowledge and care being practiced in these communities when the events of this book take place?
3. Have each group prepare a written report, a creative visual presentation, and also present a brief verbal report to the class.
